Lotion Bars

A 'Lotion Bar' is lotion in a solid form. No water or chemical preservatives, just the 'good things' you use lotion for: beeswax, cocoa butter and nourishing oils like jojoba, castor, fractionated coconut oil, and soybean oil. I make special bars for special skin conditions: psoriasis and eczema. These bars may contain kukui oil, flax seed oil, and shea butter. The bars are usually scented (although I make unscented for those who prefer no scent). The most common scents come from fragance oils, a combination of natural fragrances and synthetic fragrances. They just 'smell good,' but have no particular inherent properties. I also make some bars with essential oils, absolutes, and resins. These are all natural with no synthetic ingredients. Essential oils are distilled from the plants themselves and often have inherent properties. Because of the low temperatures used in the process, we believe that the essential oils maintain some of their properties (i.e. lavendar known for healing, sedation, relaxation). If you are interested in learning more about essential oils, I recommend reading one of the many aromatherapy books on the market today.
